Short on time? Smaller watches are back, and some of the best pieces in our safe are under 38mm. Our favourite is the new Rolex Land-Dweller 36. Here are five, for smaller wrists or for anyone who likes a watch that sits neatly under a cuff.
1. Rolex Land-Dweller 36 127234

36mm and only 9.7mm thick, on an integrated Flat Jubilee bracelet, with Rolex's new 5Hz calibre 7135. It's the most modern small Rolex there is. See ours.
2. Rolex Datejust 36 116234

The classic 36mm Datejust: white dial, white gold fluted bezel, Jubilee bracelet. It's the proportion Rolex built its reputation on. See ours.
3. Patek Philippe 5110P World Time

37mm of platinum with a world time complication inside. Proof that a small case can carry a lot of watchmaking. See ours.
4. Cartier Santos de Cartier Medium WSSA0061

35.1mm wide, but square watches wear larger than their numbers, so this feels closer to a 38–39mm round watch. The green dial and QuickSwitch bracelet make it easy to live with. See ours.
5. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 31 277200

The smallest here at 31mm, in turquoise or beige. Light, simple and full of colour. See the turquoise or the beige.
Honourable mention: the Panthère de Cartier, 27mm by 37mm, with the most comfortable bracelet in the safe.
Final Thoughts
Small doesn't mean less. Some of these are the most interesting watches we have. Try one on before you decide you need 41mm.
