Short on time? Rolex added the 126713GRNR in 2023. It's a 40mm GMT-Master II in yellow Rolesor (Oystersteel and 18k yellow gold) with a grey and black Cerachrom bezel, a shade of grey Rolex hadn't used on the GMT-Master II before. Jubilee bracelet only. Calibre 3285 inside.

Backstory

The GMT-Master II has had a lot of famous bezels: Pepsi, Batman, Root Beer, Sprite. Each colour combination has its own fan club. In 2023 Rolex added another, and it surprised people.

Grey and black. On yellow Rolesor. It shouldn't work as well as it does.

Collectors started calling it the "Zombie", and some say "Guinness". Neither name is official. Rolex just calls it the GMT-Master II 126713GRNR, so that's what you want to search for.

Key Details

The case is 40mm, Oystersteel with 18k yellow gold on the bezel, crown and the centre links of the bracelet. And it's a Jubilee bracelet, only ever, with an Oysterlock clasp. The black dial has gold-framed markers that tie it into the gold on the outside.

The bezel insert is a two-tone grey and black Cerachrom ring. In person, that grey has a softness that photos struggle to capture.

The Movement

The calibre 3285 is the same proven GMT movement found across the current range, with around 70 hours of power reserve. The local hour hand jumps independently, the 24-hour hand tracks a second zone, and the bezel lets you follow a third if you want to. Water resistance is 100 metres.

On the Wrist

Yellow gold can make a watch feel loud. The grey bezel turns the volume down. It's softer than the black and brown of the Root Beer and much more relaxed than an all-gold GMT, and the Jubilee makes it comfortable enough to forget it's there.

If there's a catch, it's that yellow gold isn't for everyone. But if you've always wanted a two-tone Rolex and found the classic versions too much, this is the one that might change your mind.

Final Thoughts

The 126713GRNR is one of the freshest GMT-Masters in years. Different without being gimmicky, and proof Rolex can still surprise people with a colour.
